SAN MARCOS, Calif. -
Simpson women's basketball was a win away from securing a spot in the NAIA National Tournament, but ran into a tough BenU squad, ultimately falling 72-58.
The Red Hawks fell behind early as Benedictine got hot from the floor in the first quarter and took the lead 22-7 at the end of one.
Simpson battled in the second and third quarters to cut into the lead, but BU's strong final 10 minutes was too much for the Red Hawks.
Simpson once again forced 26 turnovers for Benedictine, but BU's fast start and early lead was too large to overcome.
