SANTA BARBARA, CA - Simpson University baseball fell in the first two games of a four-game series with Westmont College, 8-4, 8-5.

In game one, The Red Hawks plated two runs in the top of the first, but a five-run eighth inning by the Warriors was the difference-maker in the loss.

Logan Gomes notched two of Simpson's ten hits and an RBI in the losing effort. Simpson's starting pitcher, Jackson Bennet went 5.2 innings pitched allowing three runs and striking out six batters in the quality start, but ultimately got a no-decision.

In game two, Westmont grabbed the lead scoring in four out of the first five innings, and led 8-2 heading into the 7th inning. The Red Hawks fought back and were able to get three runs in the top half, but it wasn't enough.

Eight different Red Hawks recorded hits in the second game of the doubleheader, the only player with a two-hit performance was Logan Gomes who also scored two runs and tallied two RBIs.

Simpson will continue its series with Westmont College with games three and four taking place Saturday with first pitch at 11 am.
