Women's Volleyball Season Ends Finishing Just Out of Playoffs

REDDING, Calif. - Simpson University women's volleyball had been on the fringe of making the postseason all season long. Despite finishing second in the North division in the Cal Pac, the Red Hawks were on the outside looking in, needing four more wins to qualify.

The Red Hawks knew that they needed a big week heading into the final week of the regular season, and they delivered, winning two out of three matches.

Simpson began the week with a dominating three-set victory over Providence Christian, followed by another impressive performance in a four-set victory over Antelope Valley. SU went right at one of the best teams in the Cal Pac, La Sierra, but fell in the season finale in three straight sets.

The Red Hawks finish their season 9-16 overall, and 8-10 in conference play, but showed major improvement over last season by taking sets off of top teams and closing the point gap in lost sets.

Many of the Simpson's key players will be returning, but three seniors will be moving on: Maddie Adams, Madison Fritz, and Jessica Stanley.

The hunt for talent in the upcoming recruiting class begins as the Red Hawks look to continue to improve and chase their goal of making playoffs and competing for a conference championship.
