REDDING, Calif. - The Men's Basketball Team was back on their home court for the first time in a month where they took on the Southern Oregon Raiders and got a commanding 73-55 win.
Both teams started the game with intensity, keeping it close for the first 20 minutes. Simpson led by only two going into halftime.
Despite the Raiders having a higher percentage from beyond the arc, the Red Hawks shooting over 55% from the paint is what have them the lead.
The second half is when SU turned up the heat and pulled away. Steals by several players turned into points at the other end and the Raiders just couldn't keep up. The Red Hawks had 10 points off turnovers.
Gary Mims led SU in scoring with 20 points and in rebounds with 13.
Dylan Banks had 14 points, five rebounds and three steals.
Weston VandenHazel tallied 12 points and four rebounds.
Anthony Rice put up 10 points, six rebounds and two steals.
The Red Hawks are going into their next trip on a high note, now 4-3 on the season thus far.
SU will play its final two games of 2021 on December 3rd at Portland Bible College at 7 PM, followed by at Humboldt State on December 9th at 7 PM.
