HILO, Hawaii - The Men's Basketball Team traveled to the big island over the weekend to take on University of Hawai'i at Hilo, coming up short in both games.
On Friday, the Red Hawks were still getting into their rhythm in the first half, the Vulcans outscoring them. 44-28.
In the second half, Simpson improved their performance, only being outscored by one.
But it wasn't enough as SU ultimately fell, 89-72.
Anthony Rice was the scoring leader for the Red Hawks, racking up 24 points.
Gary Mims had 18 on the night. Mims also tallied two blocks and 13 rebounds.
Drey Ubas recorded four steals for Simpson.
On Saturday, Simpson kept the game closer in scoring, only being outscored by nine in the first half and seven in the second.
The Red Hawks even had the lead twice and tied the game three times.
Their efforts fell short again with a final score of UH Hilo 87, and SU 71.
Anthony Rice had 19 points, followed by
Aaron Knauss and
Gary Mims with 13 each and
Morgan Cox with 12. Cox also had three steals, Donalson Ford following with two.
Simpson will head to the College of Idaho this weekend to compete in the Domino's Classic Tournament, playing Multnomah on Friday and the College of Idaho on Saturday.
