ROCKLIN, Calfi. – The Simpson women's basketball team held strong against former rival William Jessup Wednesday afternoon in Warrior Arena before eventually falling, 78-43.
The Red Hawks dropped to 0-2 on the season, while William Jessup improved to 5-7.
After a sluggish start being down 7-0 in the first two minutes of the game, the Red Hawks would respond with a 6-2 run. Closing out the first quarter down seven, 15-8. Similar to their earlier match-up, William Jessup's size was too much, as the Warriors scored 74 points in the paint.
Brianna Clark led the Red Hawks with 11 points, while Ellie Hamel added 7 points. Kayla Gairns pulled down 9 rebounds and Bressia Northern scored 5 points.
Simpson will travel to Caldwell, ID., to face College of Idaho Friday, Jan. 22. The game will tip at 4:30 p.m. MST.
