REDDING, Calif. – The Red Hawks took on the Embry-Riddle Eagles Thursday night in the James M. Grant Center. The first time these two teams met SU walked away with a 29-point victory. With home court advantage on their side this time around the Red Hawks looked to get the season sweep with another victory over their conference foe.
The Eagles played SU close in the first, but the Red Hawks took charge with a demanding second half. Simpson gets their fifth conference victory in a game that was tied at the half, 73-53.
Freshman
Nathan Presnell lead the way for SU with 18 points, eight rebounds, and three steals. This game brings Presnell's season averages to 14.5 points and 6.5 rebounds a game, leading the team in both categories.
Blake Trent drained four triples on his way to 14 points and four rebounds in his team-high 31 minutes of playing time.
Kon Anguik posted his third double-double of the season with 10 points and a game-high 11 rebounds.
Brycen Wight continued his impressive play off the SU bench adding 11 points while adding four boards and 2 steals.
The Red Hawks are currently tied for third place in the Cal Pac Conference behind UAV and Cal Maritime. SU will take on the 4-5 Redhawks of Benedictine University on Saturday at 7:30 in the James M. Grant Center. When SU traveled to Mesa, Ariz. To face the Redhawks earlier in conference play they came up short by a lone point. Simpson will look to avenge the loss on Saturday with home court on their side.
