REDDING, Calif. – The Red Hawks started five seniors Thursday night as the Pioneers of Antelope Valley came to town.
The Pioneers offense got hot early and took a quick eight-point lead, but the Red Hawks were able to battle back and end the first quarter trailing by only three. UAV was able to pull away in the second and add to their lead in the third. Facing a big deficit SU made an effort to cut it close, outscoring the Pioneers 35-20 in the final period. Outscoring their opponent in the fourth was not enough as the Red Hawks fell to UAV 84-62.
Lexi Thompson lead the Red Hawks in scoring with 12 points on 4-5 shooting from beyond the arc.
Precious Jackson added eight points while leading the Red Hawks on the boards with 10 rebounds on the night. Front court mate 
Alex Cooper added seven boards while scoring 11 points, getting to the free throw line eight times and converting on five.
Simpson had two good performances off the bench in 
Brianna Clark and 
Natalie Campos. Clark added eight points and eight assists in her 35 minutes off the bench. Campos did what she has been called to do in the last couple games, come off the bench and shoot the ball, converting on 3 triples for nine points on the night.
Ryane Bradbury also came off the SU bench, adding six quick points and two rebounds.
The Red Hawks will take a day off before taking to the floor in the James M. Grant Center once again on Saturday to face La Sierra. The Eagles are 3-3 in conference play but the Red Hawks are hungry for their third conference win. Tip-off is set for 6:30 PM as the first round of Cal Pac Conference play comes to a close.
