PRESCOTT, Ariz. – Simpson advanced to 2-1 in conference play Saturday night as they took on the Embry-Riddle Eagles on the road in Arizona. The Red Hawks came up with a big win, defeating the Eagles by 29 points and handing ERAU their first conference loss.
Blake Trent was the best player in the gym Saturday night and was impactful in leading SU to their 18-point first half lead. Trent drilled six triples in the first half and added two more in the second. The Senior sharpshooter recorded a game high 24 points in just as many minutes, going 8-10 from behind the arc without needing to attempt a two-point field goal.
Freshman
Nathan Presnell bounced back after playing only seven minutes Thursday night due to foul trouble and added 12 points and three rebounds in 16 minutes of work.
Kon Anguik filled the box score against the Eagles as well posting eight points, seven rebounds, and a game high seven assists.
All 14 Red Hawks saw playing time in the rout and nine SU players scored.
The Red Hawks will look to keep their winning ways alive at home on Thursday and the Bobcats from UC Merced come to town. The Bobcats are 1-2 in conference with a win over PUC and a close loss to the same Embry-Riddle team SU faced on Saturday.
