REDDING, Calif. - Simpson University men's soccer hosted a pair of conference matches to begin Cal Pac play this weekend.
In the conference opener, the Red Hawks faced Embry-Riddle out of Prescott, Ariz, but fell to the Eagles 3-0. Simpson had various chances, but playing a man down for 80 minutes due to an intentional hand ball in the box created a barrier that the Red Hawks were unable to get through.
In Sunday's match, the Red Hawks battled through the rain when facing BenUÂ and dropped the match in overtime 4-3. Simpson scored the first two goals of the match despite being outshot by 10 for the match.
John Perez headlined the Red Hawks box score with a pair of assists as well as a second half goal. Benedictine scored the golden goal in the 104th minute as Mo Kinteh found the back of the net for the game-winner.
Simpson will hit the road to SoCal to face Providence Christian, Marymount California and Antelope Valley beginning on October 3rd.
