KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. - Simpson University men's soccer opened up its 2019 campaign on the road against a talented Oregon Tech Hustlin' Owls club.
Oregon Tech began the afternoon by putting the pressure on Simpson early with a goal in the 11th minute by Daniel Blessinger.
The Red Hawks were able to counter quickly scoring two goals consecutively taking the lead in the 30th and 44th minute of the match. In his first match in a SU uniform, Red Hawk striker, Alexis Rodriguez found the back of the net twice putting Simpson in front 2-1 heading into the half. 
In the final 45 minutes, OIT settled in. The Hustlin' Owls were able make some halftime adjustments and tied the game at two in the beginning minutes of the second half. Oregon Tech would immediately score twice more giving them a 4-2 lead that they would not relinquish.
The Red Hawks kept the pressure on late with a total of 11 shots and six on goal, but the Owls defense thwarted Simpson's late chances.
Simpson will look forward its Home Opener on Saturday, August 24th where they will take on Northwest University with kickoff set at 10 am.
