Simpson Baseball Wins 7th Straight

KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. - Simpson University baseball has had an air of confidence all season long and on this seven game winning streak, they have showed us exactly why. The Red Hawks are off to the best start in program history and are vying for the 3rd playoff spot in the Cal Pac standings just one game out of the playoffs.

SU headed up north to face Oregon Tech for a two game matchup to give them a break from conference play. Simpson continued to compete at a high level in a dominating 18-7 win and close 7-6 win.

Simpson's bats were firing in game one recording 18 runs and just like against Providence Christian, Damien Chavez was 5-5 with four runs scored, seven RBI's, and two homeruns. Rey Gomez recorded his third win of the year as Simpson rolled OIT in game one to get back to .500 on the season.

Paul Gallegos and Colin Bovee were strong on the mound for the Red Hawks and SU had just enough offense to pick up the series sweep. Nate Minami led Simpson in game two with a pair of RBIs including a key run in the 6th that proved to be the difference-maker.

Simpson is now above .500 for the first time ever in the month of April and will take on Marymount for a chance to leapfrog them into 3rd place in the Cal Pac standings.
