LANCASTER, Calif. - Simpson softball recorded a pair of shutouts against Antelope Valley Sunday afternoon, 4-0, 5-0.
Pitching took the upper hand in the final two games of the Red Hawks road trip as
Sunshine Wehunt and
Sydney Moorhead both tallied complete game shutouts.Â
Simpson began the day quickly getting ahead as
Madison Wright led off the game with a solo homerun and the Red Hawks led the rest of the game. After
Alison Harvey led off the 5th inning with a triple and SU followed with a couple of timely hits to extend Simpson's lead to 4-0.Â
In game two, the SU offense did more of the same as they batted around in the 3rd inning bringing in five runs on six hits, many of them extra base hits.
Emily Fuller finished the series finale, 2-4 with two runs batted as
Madison Wright also brought two runs across for the Red Hawks.
It is still extremely early in conference play to have the current standings mean anything, but the Red Hawks still have the most wins in conference play thus far and seven more total wins than the closest team in the Cal Pac.
The Red Hawks will be back at home next weekend for a four game series against Marymount California University beginning on Saturday, April 6th at 1 pm on the Simpson Softball Field.
