SAN MARCOS, Calif. - The Red Hawks softball team extended their winning streak to five on Thursday after two high scoring wins over University of Saint Katherine, 15-13, 12-0.
Both clubs began the series belting the ball all over the yard combining for the 28 total runs in game one.
Meridian Enriquez and
Emily Fuller led the way for Simpson, each racking up four hits a piece. Fuller also knocked in four runners and scored herself twice.
Game two is where the dominance began. SU put its ace,
Sydney Moorhead in the circle and kept the hot bats alive for the 12-0, five inning blowout. Simpson scored seven times in the 2nd inning en route to a comfortable win. Moorhead got the complete game shutout, only giving up one hit in five innings, arguably her best outing of the year. The Red Hawks were the beneficiary of 10 walks.
Chardae Hoskins and
Courtney Clevenger combined for six hits and six RBIs, highlighting Simpson's offense.
SU will get back into conference play on Saturday, when they face the University of Antelope Valley on the road, beginning at 12 pm.
