REDDING, Calif. - Simpson men's basketball fell at home Saturday night to UC Merced, 65-61.
The Bobcats avenged a one point loss in the first matchup in Merced after the Red Hawks center,
Jon Manjon, hit the game winning shot in regulation.
Merced's defense and ability to slow the pace forced Simpson to score under 65 points in both matchups and held the Red Hawks to only nine made field goals in the second half.Â
Blake Trent recorded a game-high 18 points and 11 rebounds for his first double-double of the season. Simpson also had nice performances from
Jalen Cooper and
Aaron Berry combining for 22 points and 10 boards.
Simpson currently sits at the 2nd spot in the Cal Pac with two game remaining as the Red Hawks will face La Sierra University and University of Antelope Valley on Thursday and Saturday. Both games are set to tipoff at 7:30 pm in Redding, Calif.
