REDDING, Calif. - Simpson men's soccer picked up the 4-1 at home against Sierra Nevada College Saturday.
Before the match, Simpson men's soccer celebrated the careers of
Omar Leal,
Alfred Kander, and
John Perez with a short ceremony.
The Red Hawks quickly regained focus after the recognition of seniors and went to work on the first whistle. After allowing an early SNC goal in the 10th minute, the Red Hawks took control of the match.
SU scored the equalizer just 19 minutes later after a strong cross from Victor Afonso to
Abraham Vasquez who recorded the goal on a tough volley. The second half meant more of the same for the Red Hawks. Daniel Rodriguez, after battling to get a goal, finally did in the 62nd minute to give SU the lead.
Alfred Kander took it from there as the senior made the most of the moment, scoring twice consecutively in the 69th and 88th minute to push the game out of reach.
SU will finish its season on Monday, when the Keelhaulers come to town with a 2:00 pm kickoff time set on the Simpson Soccer Field.
