ASHLAND, Ore. - Simpson U women's basketball fell in a defensive battle on Wednesday to Southern Oregon University, 55-41.
Both teams played lockdown defense all evening holding each other to under 35 percent from the field. The only scorer in double figures was SOU's Dominique Harding who finished with 13 points alongside nine rebounds.
Ruby Daube and
Samarra Fernandez led SU in scoring each finishing with eight.
Other than a tough shooting night, the Red Hawks played well.
Precious Jackson was a monster on the glass bringing down 10 boards and blocking five shots. The Raiders heavy defensive pressure forced SU into 26 turnovers, but Simpson did the same to SOU forcing 24 turnovers.
The Red Hawks will look to get their shooting rhythm back when they face SOU again in the Oregon Tech Tournament in Klamath Falls, Oregon on November 15th at 1 PM.
