EUGENE, Ore. – The Red Hawks were unable to top Corban University Friday night in the first game of a two game Oregon road trip. The Red Hawks trailed for most of the game and were unable to mount a comeback effort facing an eight point deficit heading into the fourth.
Samarra Fernandez got things started in the first half draining her first two three-point attempts on the night. This would be the first of many for the Red Hawks in a game where the team shot over 40% from behind the arc.
Alongside the efficient three-point shooting was the positive of the significant contribution from Simpson's bench. Freshman
Brianna Clark was the first guard off the bench and contributed 8 points and 5 assists. Senior Guard
Lexi Thompson also added 9 points and 2 assists in a 14-minute effort off the SU bench. In her second game back from injury, Senior Forward
Alex Cooper grabbed four rebounds and connected on both of her field goal attempts in nine minutes of playing time off the Red Hawk bench.
Alli Ramelli led Simpson's scoring effort with 19 points, shooting 8-11 from the field while adding two rebounds, three steals, and one assist.
Samarra Fernandez would go on to add a total of 14 points making her SU's second leading scorer on the night.
The Red Hawks are back in action on the road in Oregon tonight as they take on Northwest Christian at 5:30 p.m.
