REDDING, Calif. - Simpson University baseball opened up its season against Oregon Tech this weekend, pulling off the series win three games to one.
In the first series of the year, the Red Hawks found themselves trailing in all three wins, coming back in the late innings and celebrating with two walk-off victories.
Adversity has already proven not be an issue for the 2019 Simpson Red Hawks, looking comfortable trailing late in games, with key innings from the bullpen and some offensive magic.

Derick Kuhn, didn't take long to get hot from the plate to begin the 2019 season, notching seven hits in 16 at bats, scoring seven runs, and tallying seven RBIs on the weekend as well as scoring the winning run twice in games two and four.
Damien Chavez had arguably the two biggest hits of the weekend with two walk-off hits bringing in Kuhn twice..
Michael Driscoll went 5-12 with five RBIs in his first weekend for the Red Hawks and
Jordan Taylor went 3-9 with a homerun and a triple with two runs scored on the weekend.
The Simpson bullpen was vital in the Red Haws successful weeken as
Andrew Cisneros came out of the bullpen for 4.1 innings pitched without giving up a run to record the game one victory.
Vincent Cervantes also didn't allow a run in his three innings in relief in game two, allowing the Red Hawks to come back and win on a walk-off.
Simpson has now won on opening day for the fourth consecutive year and is off to the best start in program history at 3-1.
SU will play host to NCAA D II opponent Academy of Art University on February 1st and 2nd for a three game series beginning at 3 pm on Saturday at Tiger Field.
