REDDING, Calif. -- Simpsons defense came up clutch in their match-up with Cal Maritime as they knocked off the Keelhaulers 64-39.

The Red Hawks held Cal Maritime to just 28% shooting from the field and 1-19 from beyond the arc. Simpson also came away with 9 steals and forced 20 turnovers on the night. The Red Hawks advance to 6-2 in the Cal Pac holding onto their tie for third place, just a game back from Embry Riddle and UAV who are tied for first. The Red Hawks still rank 4th in the nation in defensive rebounds per game and 10th in total rebounds per game. 

Estela Gutierrez led all scorers with 20 points on 7 of 12 shooting and Madison Cox added 8 points and 9 rebounds on the night. Simpson has no time off as they take on the University of Saint Katherine Sunday afternoon in the James M. Grant Center at 1pm.
