Pasadena, Calif. – Simpson's bats came alive against Providence Christian scoring 25 runs in the three game series. The Red Hawks took games one and two, by finals if 9-2 and 11-6 but the Sea Beggars came away with the win in game three, 9-5.
Reynaldo Gomez pitched a gem in game one, throwing seven and two thirds and allowing just two runs on 4 hits.
Collin Bovee came in and recorded the final four outs, striking out two. The Red Hawks scored 9 runs on 9 hits led by
Dillon Klement who went 2-3, driving in 5 with 2 home runs.
Daniel Hermosillo added two runs and two hits of his own bringing his conference batting average to .345.
While the Sea Beggars were able to put together 6 runs on 11 hits, they weren't able to keep up with the Red Hawk offense; Simpson tallied 11 runs on 15 hits in game 2.
Derick Kuhn,
Nathan Minami, and
Daniel Hermosillo all added 3 hits for the Red Hawks.
Micah Gunter got the win pitching 8 innings striking out three.
Simpson scored 5 runs on 7 hits in game three of the series but the bullpen wasn't able to quiet the Sea Beggars as they allowed 5 runs in the 8
th.
Thomas Ahlstrom finished 3-4 with an RBI.
The Red Hawks are now just two games out of playoff contention with 6 conference games remaining. Simpson travels to Lancaster to take on top seeded Antelope Valley next Friday; first pitch is set for 2:00 pm.
