Men's Basketball Stays Hot with Huge Win Against PUC

ANGWIN, Calif.  - In a back and forth affair where Simpson saw themselves lead by 11 early and then trail by 12, the Red Hawks were able to finish on top, 89-76.

Simpson outscored Pacific Union by 19 in the second half and at one point went on a 17-2 run to take the lead mid second half. Four Simpson players finished in double digits led by Josh Brakkee who had a quiet 20 points on 8 of 11 from the field.

The Red Hawks received a huge push from the reserves tallying 26 points and Head Coach Todd Franklin understood how important the bench presence was, "Brandon Moss got his deflection that led to a breakaway dunk and then Tommy (Thomas Scriven) hits his three that was such a huge emotional lift for us that carried throughout the rest of the game," Franklin stated.

Simpson was relentless attacking the basket and drawing contact getting to the foul line 39 times and capitalizing on their chances netting 30 of them. Aron Rudd and Aaron Berry continue to be the cornerstone of the Red Hawk offense as they combined for 34 points. Rudd also brought down a game-high nine rebounds and blocked two shots, both in key situations.

Todd Franklin was very pleased in his team's performance, "This was such a huge win for us because this is such a great team and at the most critical time in the game our bench came up huge for us," Franklin says.

With the win, Simpson has now won 5 of its last 6 and slide up a slot in the Cal Pac standings and are currently sitting in a playoff spot with two games remaining.
