ASHLAND, Ore. - Simpson University men's basketball fell on the road Monday night to Southern Oregon University, 92-56.
Just two days after the Red Hawks won their conference opener at Cal Maritime, Simpson battled the 13th ranked team in the country in SOU.
In the loss, Simpson was unable to get anything to go down offensively shooting just 27 percent from the floor. The Red Hawks continued to fight despite their inability to find the net and kept the pressure on the Raiders forcing 17 turnovers and holding SOU to 33 percent shooting from beyond the arc.
The Red Hawks had two players in double digits in the scoring column, each tallying 14 points;
Blake Trent and
Jalen Cooper. Cooper went a proficient 5-8 from the floor carving up the defense with his relentless attacking of the rim.
SU won't play again until they take on another Cascade Conference opponent in Oregon Tech, who currently sits as the 22nd ranked team in the country. Simpson will travel to Klamath Falls, Ore. to face the Hustlin' Owls on December 18th at 7:30 pm.
