REDDING, Calif. - Playing on their home court for the first time this season, Simpson women's basketball put on a great performance, taking down 7th ranked Eastern Oregon University, 51-46.
Â
The Red Hawks quickly found themselves down at the beginning of the game, but that all changed at the end of the first quarter as they began to settle in. The second quarter saw one tie and six lead changes as Simpson won the first half battle with a buzzer-beating three-pointer by Alli Ramelli that would ultimately set the tone for the rest of the game. Coming out of halftime, the momentum was on Simpson's side. The offense was steady, but it was the great play on the defensive side that allowed Simpson to hold the lead for the remainder of the night.
Â
Madison Cox led the Red Hawks on offense with a perfect shooting performance, hitting seven for seven from the field, totaling 14 points on the night. Alli Ramelli had eight points, six of which came from beyond the arc. On defense, Blanca Casamort Vila had two key blocks and one steal, followed by Alli Ramelli with a steal and a block.

SU will face Southern Oregon University at home on Monday, November 5th, at 5:30 PM, looking to improve on the 3-1 record.
