REDDING, Calif. - After winning in overtime on Thursday over Northwest Christian, the Red Hawks clashed with rival William Jessup looking to keep the momentum in their favor.
Simpson trailed by as much as 16 before making a fourth quarter run to take the lead 74-71. But, the experience of the Jessup backcourt became a factor, as the Warriors went on a clutch an 11-0 run into the final horn.
The Red Hawks ability to get key stops on their run was a huge factor as the SU defense continues to be a consistent bright spot. What also became clear tonight, was the proof that the Red Hawks have a lot of firepower offensively and can hang with one of the top scoring teams in the NAIA.
Estella Gutierrez had a great scoring night, recording 20 points. Alli Ramelli was close behind with 17 points, including a couple huge threes. Blanca Casamort Villa taliled 13 points, using her patented spin move to get to rim.
SU will head to Klamath Falls for the Oregon Tech Classic where they will face Oregon Tech and Southern Oregon University.
