MESA, Ariz. - Simpson U Volleyball completed a huge upset, taking down one of the top teams in the conference, Benedictine University, 19-25, 25-18, 25-20, 17-25, 15-8.
The Red Hawks played arguably their most complete match of the season including a season best, 20 percent hitting percentage on the match. In the 5th set, Simpson came up clutch with 12 kills and zero errors in the set.
Individually, many Simpson players had career nights.
Ashley Cervantes exploded for SU with 23 kills and 12 digs. Setter,
Madison Stouder had a career night with 46 assists to go along with 21 digs.
Jessica Stanley had a monstrous night with eight blocks; the most blocks that any Red Hawk has had all year. Once again,
Marianne Soria led on the defensive side with a career-high 31 digs on the night.
With so many career-highs for SU in the five set match, the Red Hawks have some confidence as they head to Prescott, Ariz. to take on Embry-Riddle on Oct. 20th at 2 pm.
