Merced, Calif. -- The Red Hawks headed into the locker room at half up 36-25, but couldn't hold off UC Merced's fourth quarter surge, falling 73-60. Simpson shot an impressive 51% from the field and 37.5% from beyond the arc, their best this season. Merced finished with 3 scorers in double figures: Jackson with 11, Castro with 13, and Belvin who led all scorers with 24.

Simpson out shot Merced by nearly 20% but poor ball control ended the Red Hawks' hopes for a win.
The Red Hawks were plagued by turnovers, giving up the ball 29 times in the contest resulting in just 51 field goal attempts for the game.
