REDDING, Calif. - Despite the Red Hawks stellar three-point shooting, Menlo's suffocating defense propelled the Oaks to a 73-67 victory in the first day of the FCA Classic.
Simpson knocked down 12 triples in just 19 attempts, a 60 percent clip, but struggled from the free throw line going 11-20. The Red Hawks struggled taking care of the ball turning it over 26 times on the evening.
Alyson Rippingham recorded her first double-double tallying 15 points and 10 boards while adding four assists. Lexi Thompson and Fallon Greenhaw were both in double figures finishing with 17 and 14 points respectively.
Simpson had to battle around foul trouble as Madison Cox and Shayla Smothers both had to miss key minutes due to the physical play.
SU will take to the court Sunday, November 12th, to face rival William Jessup at 5 pm in the finale of the FCA Classic in the Grant Center.
