REDDING, Calif. - Simpson University men's basketball wins an overtime thriller over UC Merced, 78-72.
Simpson trailed most of the evening before receiving back to back clutch three-pointers late in the 2nd half from
Josh Brakkee and then
Nick Rodriguez. Rodriguez's three went down with less than two seconds remaining in regulation that sent the game to overtime.
The Red Hawks began overtime with the momentum in their favor and ended up outscoring the Bobcats 10-4 in the overtime period.
Simpson received a career-high 34 points from
Josh Brakkee who also grabbed 15 rebounds and played all 45 minutes.
Sean Smith and
Aron Rudd were both in double figures off the bench.
The Red Hawks improve to 2-4 in the Cal Pac and look for their 3rd win in conference as they battle rival Cal Maritime in the Grant Center at 8:30 pm.
