Volleyball splits at Pacific University Invite

FOREST GROVE, Ore - The Simpson University volleyball team ended their Oregon trip with a split on Sunday at the Pacific University Invite. The Red Hawks defeated Walla Walla University in four sets and then were swept by host Pacific University.

Game 1:
The Red Hawks dominated the first two sets winning 25-16 and 25-19. In set three, Walla Walla would scrap out a close victory 25-22. In the four and final set both teams would go back and forth, but SU would prevail winning 25-23.

Aimee Belleville led Simpson with 11 kills, while Ashley Cervantes contributed with 10 and Miranda Cook followed with seven. 

Kelsey Reibsamen posted four aces and 26 assists. Meg Edwards posted a team high 19 digs.

Game 2:
Host Pacific University would take full control of the match sweeping the Red Hawks in three straight sets (16-25,18-25, 19-25).

Cervantes led the Red Hawks with six kills, one ace and two blocks.

Reibsamen posted 13 assists and 8 digs.

Simpson returns to action Sept.13 at home against William Jessup University. Match is set to start 7:30pm.
