Red Hawks Volleyball Wins Season Opener

REDDING, Calif. - The Simpson University women's volleyball team opened up its 2016 season at the 2nd Annual Simpson Volleyball Classic with a three set victory over New Hope Christian College.

Ashley Cervantes led the way for the Red Hawks with nine kills, followed closely by Elizabeth Rettenmier with seven kills.  The Deacons battled in the opening set, but the Red Hawks were too much, finishing with a 27-25 victory.

Simpson then got hot winning the second set in impressive fashion, 25-10, before finishing off the clean sweep with 25-20 in the third and final set.

The Red Hawks improve to 1-0 in the new campaign and have little time rest with another match set for 5:00 pm on August 26th against the Multnomah University Lions.
