Red Hawks drop two to No. 4 Lewis-Clark State

REDDING, Calif.- The Red Hawks started their four game series against the Warriors from Lewis-Clark State College on Saturday after rain washed out the scheduled start of the series. The series opened up with a double header on Saturday afternoon with both games going to the Warriors, 22-2 and 10-1.

In game one the Red Hawks sent Humberto Solorio to the mound to take on Kevin Hamann for the Warriors. The Warriors scored three in the top of the fist before the Red Hawks would answer back with two of their own in the bottom of the inning on a Blaine Hokama RBI single and a Matthew Kiyota RBI double to make it 3-2 Warriors after one inning played.

The next six innings would be nightmarish for the Red Hawks as the Warriors would score four in the second and third innings, six times in the fourth and five times in the sixth inning to go up 22-2. With the mercy rule in place the game would end afte seven inning with the Warriors holding on to the twenty run lead.

In game two the Red Hawks looked to settle down the Warrior offense with Cody Coggins on the mound.

Coggins was sharp to start the game allowing just two hits in the first three innings of the game. The Warriors would finally get to Coggins in the fourth inning but he would hold the damage to just one run.

The score would remain 1-0 Warriors until the seventh inning when the Red Hawks tied the game up a one a piece when Aaron Curfman singled to score Rath Mosley.

Then in the top of the eighth inning it would all unravel for the Red Hawks again as the Warriors would score 9 times to take back the lead and make it 10-0 which they would hold on to for the win.

The Red Hawks will look to bounce back on Sunday, April 24th, when they will wrap up the series with a double header starting at 11 amat Tiger Field which will also be senior day for the Red Hawks.
