Cold Weather Hurts Women's Soccer

KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. - With a wind chill of 35 degrees, the Simpson University women's soccer team fell to Oregon Tech 3-0.

Much improved from Thursday's display against Southern Oregon, the Red Hawks only allowed one goal in the first half. Oregon Tech's Chrishtianna Newell scored on a double pass across from Tarryn Miyamura and Jodie Reoch from 10 yards out to give the Owls an early 1-0 lead.
In the second half, Oregon Tech remained aggressive as they recorded 11 shots and scored two more goals with 51:18 and 66:22 left in the match. Junior goalie Brittany Mattingly shut them out for the rest of the game as she recorded two saves in the second half.

Freshman Erin Delgado and senior Brook Gaddy each had a shot on goal. Mattingly played 90 minutes and recorded three saves.

The Red Hawks return to action on against Menlo College in Atherton, Calif., on Sept. 10. Kick-off is set for 1 p.m.
