Men's Soccer Finishes Oregon Road Trip with Loss to Corban

SALEM, Ore. - The Simpson University men's soccer team completed the second leg of their Oregon road trip with a 4-0 loss to the Corban University Warriors on Sept. 12.

Corban opened the scoring in the 28th minute when Nathaniel Cheney beat Red Hawk goalkeeper Michael Jones off an assist from Bobby Hutchin. The Warriors dominated possession in the first half and had nine shots compared to the Red Hawks' zero. Jones had two saves in the half and kept the Red Hawks with in touching distance as the teams went into the halftime break with the score 1-0.

The Warriors got an early breakthrough in the second half when Cheney scored his second goal of the game and doubled the Warrior lead in the 48th minute off an assist by Armando Guevara. The Warriors out-shot the Red Hawks 10-2 during the remainder of the half, with two of those shots finding the back of the net. Quamie Dinnall scored in the 60th minute, and Nic Farr capped off the scoring in the 63rd minute off an assist from Cheney.

The Red Hawks will open California Pacific Conference play against La Sierra University in Riverside, Calif., on Friday, Sept. 19. Kick-off is scheduled for 12 p.m.
