Red Hawks finish Christmas Classic with a split

REDDING, Calif. - Simpson women's basketball concluded the third annual Christmas with a 20 point loss to No.14 Concordia (NE) and a 
21 point win over New Hope Christian.

 
On Tuesday, the Red Hawks battled the No.14 Bulldogs for three in a half quarters as it was a nine point game majority of the game. Concordia would show why they are NAIA national championship runner up, outscoring Simpson 23-10 in the fourth quarter. Esther Wofford led the Red Hawks with 12 points, nine rebounds and six assist. Whitney Rodriguez followed with 12 points and nine rebounds.

 
The final day of the classic, Simpson would face the Deacons of New Hope Christian. The Red Hawks defeated New Hope in early December 72-61. Simpson would shoot a season high 50% from the field and route the Deacons 83-62. Wofford once again led Simpson with 17 points, nine rebounds, six assists and three steals. Kelsie Jurin, Fallon Greenhaw and Rodriguez each scored 14 points. Shayla Smothers recorded her second double double of the season with 12 rebounds and 10 points.

 
The Red Hawks will travel down to Rocklin, CA and face rival William Jessup on Jan.2. Tip-off is set for 2:00 p.m.
