No. 15 Southern Oregon Defeats Women's Basketball

REDDING, Calif. - The 15th-ranked team in the country, Southern Oregon, shot 52 percent from behind the three-point line and methodically pulled away from Simpson in women's basketball action Tuesday night at the Heritage Center. The Raiders remained undefeated on the season with an 89-68 victory over the Red Hawks.

Esther Wofford led three SU players in double figures with 22 points. Shayla Smothers reached double figures for the first time in her Simpson career with 11 points, and Whitney Rodriguez added 10 to go along with a team-high eight rebounds. Wofford dished out six assists to lead the Red Hawks, and Smothers grabbed seven caroms as well.

Carly Meister headed a balanced SOU attack with 21 points on 10-13 shooting from the field. Ashley Claussen buried six treys en route to 19 points, and Majerle Reeves scored all 15 of her points from behind the arc on 5-6 shooting. Courtney Setzer added 14 points.

Simpson plays Friday at NCAA Div. I Santa Clara in an exhibition game for the Red Hawks. Tip is set for 6:00 p.m.
