Women's Hoops Comes Up Shy in Defensive Battle at NWC

EUGENE, Ore. - Simpson's women's basketball team again battled a tough team on the road at Northwest Christian on Saturday, but fell 58-47 in a defensive battle between the two teams. SU opened the season away from home for its first three games of the season.

Both teams shot just over 30 percent from the field for the game, but the hosts hit 10 times from behind the three-point line, which proved the difference in the game. SU was just 2-10 from behind the arc.

Esther Wofford maintained her stellar play early on this season with a team-high 16 points. Whitney Rodriguez added 10 points and six rebounds.

Simpson plays its home opener Friday in the Simpson Basketball Classic against San Diego Christian. Tip is set for 7:30 p.m. as the second game of the day. William Jessup and Northwest Christian will tip at 5:30.
