Poor Shooting Dooms Women's Basketball vs. Corban

REDDING, Calif. - The Simpson women's basketball team suffered through a rough shooting night and lost at home Wednesday heading into the Thanksgiving break, 66-53, to visiting Corban at the Heritage Center.

The Red Hawks finished 0-17 from behind the three-point arc and hit 32 percent from the field overall. All but one of the 20 made field goals was from outside the paint. Meanwhile, the Warriors knocked down seven treys and made all 13 of their free throw attempts to complete the season sweep over SU.

Simpson led 14-13 with 2:07 remaining in the first quarter, but an 11-0 run at the end of the first and over the first four minutes of the second period turned the tide in Corban's favor. The Red Hawks posted just four points in the second quarter and trailed 33-18 at the intermission.

Whitney Rodriguez lead Simpson with 15 points and seven rebounds. Kelsie Jurin added 12 points.

Sadie Pilgeram led all scorers and rebounders with 25 and 14, respectively, for the Warriors.

Simpson remains at home on Saturday against Oregon Tech. Tip time is set for 5:30 p.m.
