Lance Jacobs

Head Coach Lance Jacobs comes to Simpson as the first Beach Volleyball Coach ever in Simpson's history.

Before coming to Simpson Coach Jacobs coached indoor volleyball locally at Foothill High School and has just recently started the Redding Sand Volleyball Club where he trains, along with other coaches he employs, as they look to develop players into their capacity of beach players.

Coach Jacobs grew up in the Los Angeles County area on the beaches of Redondo, Hermosa, and Manhattan Beach.  He had a decorated playing career in the sand and on the court. He was an avid volleyball player since his youth and played at a junior college as a setter and defensive specialist. Also, he has played sand since his youth days and competed locally in CBVA's since his mid-teen years.

"I'm excited for the opportunity to build Simpson's Beach Volleyball Program and look forward to the process of working with our athletes as they develop as people and as volleyball players.  It's a privilege to be invested in the well-being of others and it is something I don't take lightly.  It is my greatest joy to champion people and to be a part of their life journey, helping to bring strength to them in whatever way I can."

In addition to his roles here on campus, Coach Jacobs is a Graduate School Student pursuing his degree in Counseling as well as being employed as a teacher at a local alternative school here in Shasta County.

When I'm not in the sand coaching and playing volleyball, I'm hanging out with my family or working on projects relative to my teaching position in the community or the Master's Degree program I'm enrolled in.  (And when the windows open to go get waves-I'm on the coast, somewhere in the Pacific Ocean surfing...)

Coach Jacobs currently resides in Redding, CA and is married to his wife of 26 years, Rachel Jacobs. They have two daughters: Ella, a senior at Point Loma University in San Diego and Kate who is a junior in high school here in the Redding area.
