Milton Carrera has been at the helm of the Women's Soccer program since 2018.

Prior to coaching at Simpson, Carrera had a decorated coaching career with stops that included; local youth club teams, men’s assistant coach at Shasta College, and an assistant coach for former Semi Pro teams, Redding Royals and the Orlando Barnstormers.

Carrera was born in Bogota, Colombia and graduated high school in the county of Colombia from Colegio Distrital Juan Lozano y Lozano. He later moved to the States in 2002 where he also graduated from Red Bluff high school in 2003. Carrera was determined to earn his college degree as he started some classes at Shasta College but later finished his Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration from Simpson University in 2023.

Since coming to Simpson University, Carrera has been an integral part of the women's soccer program's growth. His first season in 2018, saw great growth in player development as Carrera’s staff helped develop two All Conference Honorable Mention selections, Esther Gnanadoss and Katelynn DeVille.

In 2019, they saw a steady growth continue as they tripled their win total from the year before and developed true freshman Caroline Forseth into an All Conference Honorable Mention selection.

2020 was a breakout year for the women's soccer program as they earned the first winning season in program history (6-5-1) and best conference record since 2010. As a result, they earned the first Cal Pac tournament playoff berth in program history. A strong recruiting class helped anchor the teams success as junior transfer Mackenzie Beringer earned the Cal Pac Newcomer of the Year Award and All Conference Honorable Mention honors. Freshman Emma Nichols earned first team All Conference recognition along with freshmens Nadia Jimenez and Sol Caceres earning All Conference Honorable Mention honors. Sophomore Caroline Forseth continued her success on the field as she earned a second team All Conference selection along with senior Alexis Arnold and senior Paige Reed earning All Conference Honorable Mention honors. Carrera was recognized for the success of the team's growth by earning the Cal Pac’s Coach of the Year Award.

2021 will go down as the best season in program history as the team finished 10-5-2 and 6-1-1 in conference play on their way to their second consecutive Cal Pac Playoff berth. Another strong recruiting class ensured that Simpson took home the second consecutive Newcomer of the Year Award in the form of junior transfer Haylee Ward. Another six girls garnished Cal Pac All Conference Honorable Mentions Honors from the likes of Taylor Barker, Sierra Brenner, Fatima Valenzuela, Emma Nichols, Caroline Forseth, and Kiah Gridley.

2022 had its ups and downs. However, the key development of Simpson's soccer program continued as Sol Caceres and Kylie Hokanson earned All Conference Honorable Mention honors for their efforts on the field.

Coach Carrera believes in a family oriented style as he strives for excellence and takes pride in the unity of his program. He is looking forward to the upcoming season as he strives for success on the field as well as developing young women to become successful individuals with a higher purpose.

He states “We have the opportunity to be at a Christian institution and that gives us an opportunity to find a bigger purpose in life. We want to represent our institution at the highest level of excellence in every aspect, academic, athletic and as individuals on and off the field.”

Proverbs 27:17 “As Iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another.”
