Anthony Williams

Anthony Williams was hired as head track and field / cross country coach in March 2020.

Prior to Simpson, Williams coached four seasons at Shasta College where he led jumpers and hurdlers. In that time, Shasta crowned 15 GVC champions, 4 Nor-Cal champions, and 4 All-Americans. With Williams' assistance the Knights women's program won back-to-back Golden Valley Conference team championships in 2017 and 2018.

Williams is a local product, graduating from Enterprise High School in Redding where he was a three-sport standout eventually earning an NCAA Division I track scholarship to Sacramento State.

During his three seasons as a Hornet, Williams earned many accolades as a jumper and hurdler, highlighted by team MVP honors as a sophomore for his performance in the Big Sky Conference indoor championships. As a freshman, he qualified for the NCAA West Regional championships and ranks in the Top 10 in school history for indoor high jump (3rd), outdoor high jump (10th), and indoor 60m hurdles (10th).

Prior to the 2013-14 academic year, Williams transferred home to Simpson University where he completed his degree while a standout for the Red Hawks men's basketball program. In two season at SU, he was named Cal Pac Defensive Player of the Year and earned first-team all-conference honors.

From 2006-10 Williams and his twin brother, James, starred at EHS. Anthony was a two-time Northern Section MVP in basketball and a Northern Section Heisman Award winner in football. In track, he was named MVP of the section meet as a senior. His accomplishments included four basketball and track section titles and another section championship in football all while earning honor student in each of his four years.

Williams and his wife, Brianna, reside in Redding.
