College: Rodriguez is entering her first season playing basketball for the Red Hawks. She transferred to Simpson from Eastern Oregon University prior to the 2015-16 season. She also attended Western Oregon University.

High School: Rodriguez played three years of varsity basketball at Yucca Valley High School. She received first team De Anza League honors in 2011 and 2012, was a Dave Miller Award Recipient in 2012, and received all-tournament Poly Holiday Classic honors in 2011. She played in the San Bernardino County All-Star game in 2012. She also played softball, tennis, and volleyball. She was a scholar-athlete.

Personal: Whitney is the daughter of Michael and Cindy Rodriguez. She likes to take long naps, eat pizza, listen to Katy Perry, and Snapchat. Her career goal is to become a physician’s assist or physical therapist and specialize in sports medicine. She hopes to work with professional athletes in the MLB or NFL.

Reason for coming to SU: “I chose Simpson because it seemed like the perfect fit for me. I liked the small class sizes, academic resources they offered, and the overall atmosphere was so welcoming!”
