Valladao records seven-inning no hitter to cap off series sweep over Caltech

REDDING, Calif. - The Red Hawks completed the three-game sweep today over Caltech with two wins, including a seven-inning no-hitter by Bo Valladao

The Red Hawks exploded in the two games as they scored 27 runs on 23 hits, including six long balls on the day.

Over the fourth through sixth innings of game one, the Red Hawks plated 11 runs, including RBI singles by JJ Torrente and Duke Aloy. A two-run double by Aden Munoz and a three-run blast by Owen Hayes

The Beavers' big inning came in the fourth as they plated three runs on three hits. But the deficit proved too much for the Beavers as the Red Hawks sealed the 15-5 victory in mercy-rule fashion.

Gage Hoyle picked up the win as he tossed 4.0 innings while allowing five runs before handing the ball to Trey Bennett, who silenced the Beaver bats by throwing 2.2 innings of one-hit ball.

Aloy had a big game in the leadoff spot as he went three-for-three with two walks, reaching base safely five times.

Munoz posted a three-hit performance as he recorded two RBIs. Torrente rounded out the multi-hit performances in game one as he went two-for-five with two RBIs.

Game 2:

The storyline of game two belonged to pitcher Bo Valladao as he botched the seven-inning no-hitter to cap off the series sweep in a 12-0 victory.

The Red Hawk bats continued to stay hot as they posted 10 hits, while six of them went for extra bases.

Cesar Ortega got the Red Hawks on the board in the second inning with an RBI double, followed by a two-run single by Munoz. Cayden Lee extended Simpson's lead in the third inning with a two-run blast.

Malachi Fuller got in on the action as he stroked his first long ball of the year in the fourth inning, while Lee belted his second big fly of the game in the fifth inning.

Simpson plated five more runs in the bottom of the sixth inning as Owen Hayes stroked a two-run blast and Oretga laced his second double of the game, good for two-more RBIs.

Valladao picked up his second win of the year as he allowed just three Beavers to reach base all game.

Lee and Ortega led the Simpson bats with each posting a three-for-four performance as they combined for four extra base hits and six RBIs.

Simpson looks to stay hot as they hit the road to take on Westcliff on Friday at 5 pm to begin a three-game series.
