ASHLAND, Ore. - The women's volleyball team dropped its conference opener today against No. 4 in the nation, Southern Oregon, 5-0.
The Raiders displayed their dominance as they dropped one set all day. Simpson's second pair gave the Raiders a run for their money as
Tiara Manns and
Emilly Melo took the first set 21-16 against Southern Oregon's Kira Sandoval and Poppy Freeman.
But Sandoval and Freeman answered back as they took the second set 21-10 before narrowly edging Manns and Melo in the third set 15-7.
The Raiders swept the next three matches in straight sets as they held the Red Hawks' third, fourth, and fifth pairs in check; they allowed no more than 16 points.
The Red Hawks are back in action tomorrow as they begin the day with a nonconference matchup against the University of Portland at noon and round out the day with a conference match against Southern Oregon.
