Simpson Bass Team Jumps to 38th in the Nation With Strong Back East Representation

The Simpson University Bass Fishing Team has made tremendous strides as the only fully funded college fishing program on the West Coast. After their last set of tournaments in Alabama, they now sit in 38th place out of over 143 competing programs and numerous other registered colleges.

Due to unforeseen circumstances, our anglers faced many challenges including blizzards, hail, high winds, and tornado warnings. This unfortunately led to tournament cancellations and lost opportunities for School of the Year Points.

Amidst the adversity, our anglers still prevailed. We sent three undergraduate teams to the ACA Pickwick Slam which consisted of over 270 Teams! Brennan Osborn and Brayden Bishop prevailed in this event with a 19th-place finish and a 20.29-pound bag. Osborn and Bishop are a dynamic team that has been very successful together and as individuals on the team. Aside from sanctioned college events, Osborn has participated in the Bass Angler Magazine Pro/Am events where he recently finished 7th Place at Lake Don Pedro! Bishop has had multiple commendable finishes in the Phil's Propeller Team events as well.

The Team of Payton Lyndall & Jacob Greene also has a commendable finish of 44th Place adding to the team's showing! They came in with 17.43, which is an exceptional bag of fish! Lyndall, a freshman, still has a long collegiate career ahead. Greene, a senior, can finish off on a high note and step into a successful career outside of Simpson!

Aiden and Dylan Grad also participated in this event, and represented the school as students and talented anglers! Both excelling in academics and on the water, they are an integral part of the team and have had immense success this season! They are also the Angler of the Year Team for the West Side Bass Tournament Circuit!

MLF Collegiate Championship:

Graduate Quinn Hawkinson & Landon Ford also represented the Simpson Bass Team at Wheeler Lake for the MLF College Championship!

This is a small field of qualified contestants, that showcases some of the best that college fishing has to offer! Wheeler Lake also threw a twist to the field with changing water conditions, debree and tough fishing for most of the field. While a handful of teams prevailed, we are proud of what our anglers accomplished to get there.

Qualifying the year prior at Lake Havasu in a Major League Fishing College Event, these two moved on as successful anglers and came back to represent the program one more time. Day 2, was a comeback day for the team with a strong limit that pushed them up for a middle-of-the-pack finish.

They used the final day to tour the Phoenix Boats Factory in Winchester, Tennessee where they were able to view the complete process of producing some of the best bass boats in the fishing industry! Thank you Jeff Hartung for the Opportunity!

REDCREST:

While our anglers were competing, Coach Bray was in Huntsville, Alabama at MLF Redcrest Outdoor Sports Expo!

At this event, he was able to network with some of the biggest names in Bass Fishing, and ensure that Simpson University stays prevalent in the industry! Connecting with individuals in the Bass Fishing Hall of Fame, producing media for our partners, and networking at events like the Thunderbolt Ball were just a small part of the week!

We want to thank Major League Fishing for the opportunity to be present, and for the exceptional job they did hosting one of the largest events in Bass Fishing!

Our program's success has stemmed from the backs of our supporters and the drive of our anglers. We can't express our thankfulness enough for this opportunity and are blessed to have received safe travels along the way. Thank you to our support system!
