REDDING, Calif. - The women's basketball team continued to stay hot as they defeated Pacific Union College last night 79-34.
Zara Dumatol got the scoring started on the Red Hawk's first offensive possession of the game as she drained a three-pointer followed by a layup by
Anna Marshall to give Simpson the early lead.
Simpson outscored the Pioneers 11-2 to close out the first half with three straight layups from Dumatol,
Cerina Nguyen, and
Tessa Kinney to give Simpson the 22-13 advantage.
The Red Hawks blew it open in the second quarter as they outscored the Pioneers 20-3 to take the commanding 42-16 lead into the half.
Simpson got contributions from the entire team as Kinney and Marshall posted four points,
Nikki Thompson and Dumatol notched three points, and
Deja Ortiz,
Mariah Napoleon, and Nguyen each picked up buckets.
But Simpson kept it rolling as they dominated the third quarter by outscoring the Pioneers 24-4 with Thompson posting a team-high nine points in the third.
