Simpson University Head Football Coach Shawn Daniel Announces Resignation

Redding, Calif. — December 19th, 2025— Simpson University announced today that Head Football Coach Shawn Daniel has resigned from his position.

Coach Shawn Daniel served as the first-ever head football coach in Simpson University history and was instrumental in getting the football program off the ground. He led the recruitment of the University's first football student-athletes in program history, guided the program's entry into the Frontier Conference, and over time built the program's roster to more than 120 student-athletes.

"We thank Coach Daniel for his service to Simpson University and his contributions to the football program," said Rob Harley, Athletic Director. "Coach Daniel has been a faithful presence at Simpson and played an important role in launching our football program. We're thankful for the time he and his family spent serving the University and for the impact he made here, which will continue to be felt through the football program moving forward. We pray for God's guidance for Coach Daniel and his family as they move into the next chapter."

Additional details regarding next steps for the position will be communicated soon.
