But the Golden Eagles countered as they scored three straight points to take the first set thriller, 28-26.
The Red Hawks and Golden Eagles took part in another thrilling set as they exchanged rallies.

But the Golden Eagles prevailed as they took the 25-23 second set victory to take the commanding 2-0 match lead.
However, the Red Hawks responded with its backs against the wall as Swenson put the first points on the board in set three on a kill by Swenson.
Simpson dominated the third set as they played with the lead and held off the Golden Eagles for the 25-17 set three victory.
The Red Hawks looked to keep the momentum going as they faced an 18-17 deficit late in the fourth set.
Simpson went on a crucial 8-1 run to take the fourth set 25-19.
Manns anchored the run as she posted four kills while Swenson and
Katie Graham each posted a kill.
Simpson came all the way back and forced a fifth set with a ticket to the championship game on the line.
The Red Hawks reached the half-point mark first as a kill by Manns gave SU the 8-5 lead.
With the game tied at nine, the Red Hawks reeled off three straight points with Manns posting a kill.
With the score tied at 16, Swenson slammed down her 19th kill of the night to put Simpson into match-point territory.
An attacking error by the Golden Eagles ended the match and gave Simpson the 18-16 set five victory to propel them into the championship game tomorrow against UC Merced.
Mallory Swenson had a superb game as she notched a team-high 19 kills to go along with a stellar .349 hitting percentage.

Katie Graham shined as she posted 15 kills to go along with a team-high 10 blocks.
Abigail Shackelford and
Mackenzie Tataryn played an integral role as they combined for 61 assists and 28 digs.
2nd Team All-Conference selection
Madison Kammuller had a solid game as she posted 41 digs.
With the win, Simpson looks to take on #1 seed, UC Merced at 7 pm tomorrow in the California Pacific Conference Championship game.
