MCMINNVILLE, Ore. - Simpson University's Men's Wrestling team competed at the Mat Cat Open at Linfield University in McMinnville, Oregon this weekend.


The Red Hawks had a strong showing as Christopher Guizar continued his winning streak by earning "First Place" as the 133 pound Champion with a 4-0 record for the day.


Jacob Vincent wrestled extremely well with a 5 win and 1 loss record over the weekend, but suffered a tough loss in the finals taking second place.


Manny Lopez tied for 5th place in the 141 pound weight class. 


Elian Murrillo took fourth place in the 149 pound weight class. 


Carlos Martinez competing at 165 pounds took third place.


Malachi Dowdell wrestling at 174 pounds placed tied for fifth.


Tyler Diaz, wrestling as unattached, was able to continue his undefeated record by taking first place in the 157 pound class.


Our Red Hawk wrestlers will compete again this Friday, January 12th at Southern Oregon University and Saturday, January 13th in a Tri-Dual against Menlo College and Emery Riddle University at home.
