REDDING, Calif. - Simpson women's soccer took the field at the Simpson Soccer Field for the first time this season to face Oregon Tech. OIT historically has dominated these matchups, but with the resurgence of success in the women's soccer program, the Red Hawks met the Owls head-on.
Both teams were able to get decent chances inside the box with Simpson with seven shots on goal and OIT with six, but neither team was able to find the back of the net in the 0-0 draw.
Haylee Ward,
Chloe Tague, and
Carolina Oropeza were the most dangerous Red Hawks in attack this afternoon. Ward was able to get three shots on goal, Tague with two on target, and Oropeza with one for the Red Hawks.
Goalkeepers,
Kiah Gridley and
Brianna Whitehurst split the duties in the Red Hawks' third consecutive clean sheet to begin the season.
Despite the Red Hawks not finding the scoresheet, their defense continues to be a pillar for their success early in the season as they have still not allowed a goal in 270 minutes of action.
SU will be back in action looking to continue the hot start on Sunday when they face College of Idaho at 10 AM on the Simpson Soccer Field in Redding, CA.
